The Reed School of Irish Dancing ClassesWhile watching the advanced dancers in awe at an Irish dance school performance or competition, a parent may wonder, “How long will it take for my child to learn to do those amazing steps?” Individual dancing skill is a progression and there is no “normal” time line for this progression. The degree of skill developed depends on the dancer’s age, talent, commitment, practice intensity, and desire! Irish Step Dance is performed both as an individual dance (solo) and as a group dance (figure, ceili, choreography). Both kinds of dance are taught at The Reed School of Irish Dance, with the students first mastering the solo dances before moving on to the group dances. Irish step dancing is complex art form that demands a significant level of commitment and dedication — we are constantly amazed at our dancer’s passion for Irish dancing. If a dancer wishes to compete, there is no substitute for class attendance and practice! We find that our dancers (on all levels, from the Beginners to the Champions) desire to be the best s/he can be! The Details…The Reed School offers classes for toddlers, all the way through to adults. Tuition rates vary, depending on the student's age and the number of classes per month. Tuition is due at the first class of each month. Click Here For Class Schedule Missed classes may be made up by attending another class scheduled during the week. Make-up classes must be made up within the same month of the missed class. The Reed School cannot pro-rate tuition when dancers miss classes during the month. Come to Class….Students must wear shorts or leggings, T-shirts and white socks for all practices. Ballet shoes or stocking feet will be acceptable for the first six weeks of lessons. Once your dancer is established, he or she must have Irish soft-soled shoes. Private LessonsPrivate Lessons and Semi-Private Lessons are available to dancers that attend class regularly and are NOT a replacement for missed classes. Lessons can be scheduled individually or in small, semi-private groups of 2 dancers who are at the same level. Availability of lessons are limited and based on teachers’ schedules.
